PCC urges residents to have their say consultation enters final week

North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Andy Dunbobbin has been consulting with the region’s residents since July to create a plan for North Wales Police to fight crime in the area over the next four years. The survey that will form the basis for the plan closes on Friday 27 September and the PCC is calling on residents to make sure they have their say on how they want to see their neighbourhoods policed before the end of the consultation period.

Andy Dunbobbin commented: “With only a few days remaining to take part in this crucial consultation on the Police and Crime Plan for North Wales, I am urging people from all communities, backgrounds, ages and walks of life in North Wales to have their say on how they want to see their community policed for the next four years.

“I have a legal duty to consult with the public on my plan and have spent the summer engaging with people from all over the region. We’ve run the consultation for over 10 weeks, far longer than the six weeks recommended, as we were very keen for as many people as possible to have their say. I know from this process that many have firm views on what they want to see happen in their neighbourhoods. Taking part in this consultation is a quick and simple way that residents can share their views with me and the police and have an influence on the plan to fight crime in our region.”

As well as being the voice of the people in policing, the PCC and his office also fund services that do valuable work within the community. For example, they help to support victims of crime and help offenders to reduce re-offending. In his manifesto prior to his election, the PCC declared that his key pledges for his time as PCC would be a local neighbourhood policing presence; supporting victims, communities and businesses; a fair and effective criminal justice system; and a visible and responsible Police and Crime Commissioner.
